KS2 SATs maths timeline, counting back from 12 May 2027
A steady plan beats a last-minute rush. If your child wants a tutor alongside it, our KS2 SATs maths tutoring starts with a free assessment and costs from £69 a month.
Autumn term 2026
Ask the class teacher which areas of maths your child is secure in and which need work. Short, regular practice of number facts at home is easier to keep up than long sessions.
January to February 2027
Focus on written methods for the four operations, fractions, decimals and percentages, as these come up in the arithmetic paper.
March to April 2027
Try past KS2 papers, published on GOV.UK, to get used to the format. For reasoning questions, practise reading carefully and showing working.
Final 2 weeks before 10 May
Keep practice light and calm. Make sure your child knows the dates, gets enough sleep, and knows it is normal to find some questions hard.
After the tests
Results reach schools from Tuesday 6 July 2027. Ask the teacher what they show and what support will carry on into Year 7.
