How it works, in short

TaleemSquare SAT Math tutoring is live, one-to-one preparation for the Math section of the digital SAT, in 45-minute online lessons. Tutors teach the four tested areas, Algebra, Advanced Math, Problem-Solving and Data Analysis, and Geometry and Trigonometry, and train pacing and Desmos calculator use for both adaptive modules.

The section has 44 questions across two 35-minute modules, and how your child does on the first decides whether the second is harder or easier. Math is scored from 200 to 800. Lessons begin with a free assessment, and plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Worked solution of a linear equation on the shared lesson whiteboard
Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

A pacing plan for each module

Knows roughly how long to spend on each of the 22 questions in a 35-minute module and when to move on and come back later.

Uses Desmos as a tool

Solves systems, finds intersections and checks quadratics by graphing in the built-in Desmos calculator when that is faster than algebra.

Fewer careless errors

Reads word problems for what is actually asked, such as units, a percentage or the value of an expression rather than x.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Algebra

Linear equations, inequalities, functions and systems in one and two variables, about 13-15 questions in the section.

Advanced Math

Quadratic, exponential, polynomial and rational functions, equivalent expressions and nonlinear equations, also about 13-15 questions.

Problem-Solving and Data Analysis

Ratios, rates, percentages, units, one- and two-variable data, probability and judging statistical claims, around 5-7 questions.

Geometry and Trigonometry

Area and volume, lines and angles, triangles, right-triangle trigonometry and circles, around 5-7 questions.

Student-produced responses

Questions where your child types the answer instead of choosing it, with practice entering fractions, decimals and negative values in an accepted form.

Adaptive module strategy

Why the first module matters, how questions run from easier to harder within each module, and how to save time for the hardest ones.

Desmos calculator skills

Graphing, tables, regression and solving with the calculator built into Bluebook, so it speeds your child up rather than slowing them down.

Full practice sections

Timed work with the College Board's free full-length adaptive practice tests in Bluebook, followed by a review of every missed question.

Signs your child could use help

  • Math score lags behind Reading and Writing
  • Runs out of time in the second module
  • Avoids the Desmos calculator or uses it slowly
  • Loses points on percentages and word problems
  • Has an SAT date booked but no study plan
  • Advanced Math questions on functions feel shaky

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

Digital SAT Math (College Board)

Usually taken in Grade 11 or 12, on a weekend date or through SAT School Day. Math is scored 200-800 and combines with Reading and Writing for a 400-1600 total. College testing policies vary, so check each college your child is considering.

SAT for UK-based students

UK students applying to US colleges can sit the digital SAT at international test centers. Some UK universities also accept SAT scores, often together with AP results, from applicants at American-curriculum schools.

Level: GCSE Higher and early A-level content

SAT for Canadian students

Canadian universities admit mainly on high school grades, but students applying to US colleges often take the SAT. It is given in the same digital format at test centers in Canada.

Level: Grades 9-11 math content

SAT for students in Australia

Australian university entry uses the ATAR, so the SAT matters mainly for US college applications. It is offered at international test centers, and lessons are scheduled in Australian time zones.

How we prepare students for SAT Math

Diagnose by domain

The free assessment and a first practice section show which of the four content areas costs the most points, and lessons start there.

Desmos when it is faster

Tutors show when graphing beats algebra and when it does not, then drill that decision until it is quick.

Module pacing

Your child practises full 35-minute modules with a target time per question and a plan for questions that stall.

Error log

Every wrong answer is tagged as a content gap, a misread or a time problem, and the log sets the next week of lessons.

Common worries, honest answers

“My child is good at math but the SAT score is lower than expected.”

That often points to pacing, misreading or unfamiliar question styles rather than missing content. Practice in the real adaptive format usually shows where the points are going.

“Can you guarantee a score increase?”

No honest tutor can. We can promise a clear plan, focused practice on your child's weak areas and regular WhatsApp updates so you can judge progress yourself.

“The test date is only a few weeks away.”

Then lessons concentrate on pacing, calculator use and the question types your child misses most. A longer runway allows more content work, so consider a later date if there is one that fits.

Frequently asked questions

How is the digital SAT Math section structured?

It has 44 questions split into two modules of 35 minutes each, 70 minutes in all. The first module mixes easy, medium and hard questions, and performance there decides whether the second module is harder or easier. Most questions are multiple choice, and some ask students to type in their own answer.

Can you use a calculator on SAT Math?

Yes, on every Math question. The Desmos calculator in the Bluebook app switches between graphing and scientific modes, and students can also bring an approved handheld calculator without CAS functions. Calculators are not allowed in the Reading and Writing section.

What math is on the SAT?

There are four content areas: Algebra (13-15 questions), Advanced Math (13-15), Problem-Solving and Data Analysis (5-7) and Geometry and Trigonometry (5-7). About 30% of the questions are set in a real-world context, so careful reading matters as much as calculation.

How much does an online SAT math tutor cost?

At TaleemSquare, one-to-one SAT math tutoring starts at $85 a month for two 45-minute lessons a week, which is about $10.63 a lesson. Three lessons a week is $119 and four is $149, with no contract, no registration fee and a free first assessment. Private SAT math tutors in the US often charge $40-$60 an hour or more.

How long should my child prepare for SAT Math?

It depends on the starting point and the goal. A student with solid Algebra 2 may need a few weeks of format practice, while one with content gaps benefits from two to three months of regular lessons. The free assessment gives a clearer picture before you commit.

Should my child take the SAT or the ACT?

US colleges that consider test scores accept either one. The SAT is adaptive and allows Desmos on every Math question, while the ACT gives 45 math questions in 50 minutes on a fixed form, with science as an optional add-on. A timed practice test of each shows which format suits your child.
