FAQ

Questions Parents Ask Before Booking

Everything we get asked, grouped by the decision you are actually trying to make. If your question isn't here, message us on WhatsApp or email taleemsquarellc@gmail.com — we will answer it directly rather than send you a brochure.

Getting started

What happens between your first message and your child's first class.

Is the math assessment really free?

Yes. It is a full 45-minute one-to-one session with a tutor, at no cost, with no card required and no obligation to book anything afterwards.

What happens in the free assessment?

Your child works through diagnostic questions with a tutor on a shared whiteboard. The questions span several grade levels so the tutor can find where understanding actually stops, not just confirm that the current topic is hard. Afterwards you get a summary of what was found and an honest recommendation.

How quickly can we start?

We usually reply on WhatsApp within 10 minutes, and can often arrange the free assessment within 24 to 48 hours. Most families go from first enquiry to first paid class within a few days.

Does my child need to prepare for the assessment?

No — and please don't have them revise. An assessment your child has prepared for tells us less than an honest one. Paper, a pencil and a quiet spot is all they need.

Will you tell me if my child doesn't need tutoring?

Yes. Sometimes the honest answer is a two-week fix, a conversation with their teacher, or simply more sleep. We would rather say that than take a booking that gets cancelled in week three.

Classes and scheduling

How lessons actually run week to week.

How long is each class?

45 minutes, one-to-one. Short, frequent sessions retain better than long ones, so students needing more support move to three or four classes a week rather than to longer lessons.

Are classes one-to-one or in groups?

Always one-to-one. One tutor, one student, in a private password-protected room. We do not run group classes.

What platform do classes run on?

Zoom, plus a shared interactive whiteboard that runs in the browser, so your child solves problems live with the tutor rather than watching. There is nothing to install beyond Zoom. A laptop or tablet works; a stylus helps younger children.

Can we choose the class times?

Yes. You pick times that fit your family, including evenings and weekends, across US, Canadian, UK, Australian and UAE time zones.

What if we need to reschedule?

Reschedule any class with 4 hours' notice at no cost. Family schedules change, and we would rather move a class than have a tired child sit through one.

Which grades do you teach?

Kindergarten through Grade 12. Lessons follow your child's own curriculum, including Common Core, US state standards, the UK National Curriculum, the Australian Curriculum, IB and homeschool programmes.

What math topics do you cover?

Everything from counting, place value and times tables through fractions, ratio and percentages, to Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus, plus school and standardized test preparation.

What language are lessons taught in?

English. Every lesson is taught in English by an English-fluent tutor. We don't offer lessons in other languages, so we can't provide Russian-speaking or other non-English tutors, and we are not part of the Russian School of Mathematics.

Do you teach subjects other than math?

Yes: reading and English. Alongside math, we teach phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, grammar and writing from Kindergarten to Grade 12, in the same one-to-one format and on the same plans. We do not teach science, languages or other subjects, and we will tell you if your child needs help we can't give.

Tutors and safety

Who teaches your child, and what you can verify yourself.

Are your tutors qualified?

Our tutors are experienced educators, most with several years of classroom or one-to-one teaching behind them. Every one passes a subject test, a spoken-English assessment and a live sample lesson before teaching a TaleemSquare student, and all are identity-verified and reference-checked.

Where are your tutors based, and do they speak fluent English?

Our tutors are based in a range of countries, including outside the US and UK. Every tutor teaches entirely in clear, fluent English and passes a spoken-English assessment before joining. This is also the honest reason our prices are lower than centre-based providers — and it is why we want you to judge the teaching yourself at the free assessment.

Can I sit in on my child's classes?

Yes, any session, with no notice needed and no need to ask. Most parents watch the first two or three and then stop once they are comfortable.

Can classes be recorded?

Yes. Request a recording of any class and review it whenever you want.

What if the tutor isn't the right fit?

We switch them at no cost and you do not need to explain why. Fit matters more than credentials, especially for younger or less confident children.

Can we request a female or male tutor?

Yes. Tell us when you enquire and we will match accordingly where we can.

How do you keep online classes safe for children?

Classes are one-to-one in password-protected rooms with no other children present, tutors are identity-verified and reference-checked, any session can be recorded on request, and parents can join at any time. We do not currently run government criminal-record checks such as DBS across every territory our tutors work in — if that matters to your family, ask us before booking and we will tell you plainly what we can evidence.

Pricing, refunds and cancellation

What it costs and how you get out of it if it isn't working.

How much does math tutoring cost?

Plans are $85, $119 or $149 per month for two, three or four one-to-one 45-minute classes per week — roughly $10.63 per class on the entry plan. There is no registration fee, no materials fee and no contract.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. No registration fee, no materials fee, no assessment fee and no cancellation fee. The monthly price is the whole price.

Do prices change for higher grades?

No. A Grade 11 calculus class costs the same as a Grade 2 arithmetic class.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. Tell us on WhatsApp or by email and billing stops at the end of that month.

What is your refund policy?

If you are not satisfied after your first 4 paid classes, we refund 100% of what you paid for those classes, with no forms. Ask within 14 days of the 4th class; the refund reaches your original payment method within 7–10 business days.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Our published price is already our lowest — we don't run an inflated list price you have to sign a long contract to escape. If you are enrolling more than one child, message us and we will work something out.

Progress and results

How you will know whether it is working.

How do parents get progress updates?

A short WhatsApp summary after every class covering what was taught and how it went, plus a fuller written progress report each month setting out what has improved, what is still weak and what comes next.

How long before we see improvement?

It depends on the child and the size of the gap. In our experience confidence shifts first, often within three or four weeks, and measurable school results follow later — usually across a term. Any tutor who guarantees a grade jump by a fixed date is guessing.

Do you guarantee better grades?

No, and be cautious of anyone who does. Too much sits outside a tutor's control. What we do offer is a 4-class money-back promise: if your child isn't more confident after their first four paid classes, we refund what you paid for those classes.

What if my child is very behind?

That is a large share of the students we work with. The assessment finds where the gaps genuinely start, and we work forward from there rather than trying to keep pace with the class and patch history at the same time. Expect three classes a week rather than two.

My child has math anxiety. Can you help?

Often, yes. The first few sessions are deliberately pitched below your child's frustration point so they get a run of wins before anything hard appears, and tutors are matched partly on temperament. Tell us at the enquiry stage so we match accordingly.
