Online High School Math Tutoring for Grades 9 to 12
High school math tutoring at TaleemSquare covers Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus, one-to-one and 45 minutes per session, with lessons built around your teen's actual course and assessment dates.
By Grade 9 the stakes are visible to the student as well as the parent: course placement, GPA, and which subjects stay open later. Tutoring at this level works best when it is targeted at specific weak topics rather than spread thinly across the whole syllabus.

Topics in high school math (9–12)
Lessons follow your child's own school curriculum — Common Core, US state standards, Canadian provincial curricula, the UK National Curriculum, the Australian Curriculum, IB or a homeschool programme.
Algebra 1
Linear equations and inequalities, systems, exponents, polynomials, factoring and quadratics.
Algebra 2
Complex numbers, rational and radical expressions, logarithms, sequences and advanced functions.
Geometry
Proofs, congruence and similarity, circles, trigonometric ratios, coordinate geometry, area and volume.
Trigonometry
The unit circle, graphs of trig functions, identities and solving trigonometric equations.
Pre-Calculus
Function families and transformations, polynomial and rational functions, exponentials, logs and limits.
Calculus
Limits, continuity, derivatives, applications of differentiation, integration and the fundamental theorem.
Test preparation
School finals, state assessments and standardized-test math sections, worked backwards from the date.
Signs a student at this level needs support
None of these on their own mean your child is behind. Two or three together usually mean there is a specific gap worth finding — which is exactly what the free assessment is for.
- Passing tests but with marks trending downward each time
- Understands the lesson, then can't reproduce it under exam conditions
- Loses method marks by not showing working
- Avoiding a whole topic — usually algebra, proofs or trigonometry
- Talking about dropping math or switching to a lower course level
- Homework being copied or completed from answer keys

How we teach high school math
Teenagers have limited time and know exactly which topics they dread. The fastest gains come from being specific rather than comprehensive.
Target the weak topics
The assessment identifies which specific topics are costing marks. Lessons start there rather than at the beginning of the textbook.
Work the way the exam works
Method marks, showing working, and question phrasing are taught explicitly. Students routinely lose marks on questions they could actually do.
Fix the foundations that are still leaking
Most Grade 11 calculus errors are Grade 9 algebra errors. Tutors patch those in context rather than sending a 16-year-old back to a Grade 9 workbook.
Build exam stamina
Timed sections and full past questions, so accuracy under pressure is practised rather than assumed.
What a Grade 9–12 lesson looks like
A typical 45-minute session. Tutors adapt the timings to the child in front of them.
- 1
Agenda (2 min)
What's due, what's been set, and what the student wants to get out of the session.
- 2
Retrieval (6 min)
Mixed questions on previously weak topics, spaced deliberately so they don't quietly decay.
- 3
Targeted teaching (15 min)
The specific topic that's costing marks, taught to the method their course expects.
- 4
Exam-style practice (15 min)
Real question formats, with working assessed the way a marker would assess it.
- 5
Timed section (5 min)
Short timed run to build pace and reduce panic in the actual paper.
- 6
Set & summarise (2 min)
Independent practice, plus a WhatsApp summary of what's improving and what still isn't.
What parents ask us about this age group
“My teen resists the idea of a tutor.”
Common, and usually about pride rather than the subject. It helps that sessions are one-to-one, private, and that they meet the tutor at the free assessment before anything is agreed — most of the resistance is to the idea, not the person.
“There's a test in three weeks. Is it worth starting now?”
Yes, if we're honest about scope. Three weeks is enough to secure two or three specific topics and to fix how they approach the paper. It is not enough to rebuild a year. We'll tell you which of those you're actually buying.
“They're in the top set but slipping.”
Bright students often coast until the point where memorising stops working, then fall further than expected because they never learned to study math. That's a different problem from a knowledge gap, and it's fixable.
“Can you help with AP or advanced courses?”
We support Calculus including AP Calculus content, plus Pre-Calculus and Algebra 2. At the free assessment we will tell you plainly if a student's course is beyond what we can properly support rather than take the booking.
Find out exactly where your child is
The free assessment is one real one-to-one session. Your child works through a few problems, the tutor identifies the specific gaps, and you get an honest recommendation — including if we think tutoring isn't what they need right now.
