How it works, in short

TaleemSquare homeschool math tutoring gives your child live, one-to-one lessons with a tutor who can teach from the curriculum you already use, such as Saxon, Singapore Math, Math-U-See, Teaching Textbooks or Beast Academy, or help you plan a sequence if you are starting fresh.

After each lesson you get a written summary you can keep in your records. Many families use us for the subjects or grades they feel least confident teaching. Plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Worked solution of a linear equation on the shared lesson whiteboard
Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Math off your plate

A tutor handles the teaching of math, especially the upper grades many parents find hardest to teach.

Steady progress through the curriculum

Your child moves through the curriculum at the right pace, with gaps caught early.

Records you can keep

Lesson summaries give you a clear log of what was covered and how your child did.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Your chosen curriculum

Lessons follow the books or program you use, chapter by chapter.

Planning a sequence

If you are new to homeschooling, the tutor suggests a sequence based on the assessment.

Upper-level math

Algebra, geometry, precalculus and calculus, which many parents prefer to hand over.

Catching up or moving ahead

Homeschooling makes it easy to work at your child's real level, behind or ahead of their age.

Standardized test practice

Practice for tests some states require or families choose, as well as the SAT and ACT.

Lesson records

A summary after each lesson for your portfolio or records.

Signs your child could use help

  • Your child has outgrown what you feel confident teaching
  • Math lessons at home cause friction
  • You want an outside view of your child's level
  • Your curriculum is not working and you want advice
  • You need math records for a portfolio review
  • Your teen needs high school math for college plans

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

Homeschool curricula and state standards

Homeschool rules vary by state, and we do not give legal advice. Tutors can follow any math curriculum or align lessons to Common Core or your state's standards if you plan a return to school.

Home education in England, Scotland and Wales

Home-educating families can follow the National Curriculum or their own approach. Tutors can work toward GCSE Maths as a private candidate if that is your plan.

Level: Home education, any year

Home education in Canadian provinces

Each province has its own home education rules. Tutors can follow your chosen program or your province's math curriculum.

Home education in Australian states

Registration rules differ by state. Tutors can follow the Australian Curriculum or your chosen program and provide records of lessons.

Common worries, honest answers

“Will a tutor respect our homeschool approach?”

Yes. Tutors follow your curriculum, values and pace. You decide what is taught; the tutor teaches it well.

“We use a mix of resources rather than one curriculum.”

That works. Share the resources and the tutor will build lessons around them.

“Can you provide formal grades or transcripts?”

We provide lesson summaries and progress notes, not official grades or transcripts. Families usually include our notes in their own records.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best homeschool math curriculum?

There is no single best one. Saxon suits children who like incremental practice, Singapore Math and Beast Academy suit children who enjoy problem solving, and Math-U-See and Teaching Textbooks suit families who want video or manipulative support. The right choice depends on your child's learning style, which a tutor can help you judge.

Can a tutor teach from my homeschool curriculum?

Yes. TaleemSquare tutors can teach directly from the curriculum you use, following its lesson order, or supplement it where your child needs more explanation.

Do you help homeschoolers prepare for the SAT or ACT?

Yes. Tutors can strengthen the algebra and data skills these tests focus on and practise test-style questions. See our digital SAT math prep guide for details on the test format.

How much does homeschool math tutoring cost?

Plans are $85 a month for two 45-minute one-to-one lessons a week, $119 for three or $149 for four. Daytime slots are available for homeschool families. There is no contract.

Can my homeschooled child take lessons during the school day?

Yes. Daytime lessons are often easier to schedule for homeschool families. We agree a regular slot after the free assessment.

Do you keep records of lessons?

Yes. You receive a summary after every lesson describing what was covered and how your child did, which many families keep for portfolios or evaluations.
