How it works, in short

The TaleemSquare math enrichment program is for children who find school math too easy. In live, one-to-one lessons, a tutor works on deeper problem solving, logic puzzles, number theory and geometry challenges, and introduces the style of problems found in contests such as MATHCOUNTS, the AMC 8 and the UK Mathematics Trust challenges.

It is extension and enrichment, not elite olympiad coaching, and we will tell you if your child needs a specialist. Plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Worked solution of a linear equation on the shared lesson whiteboard
Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Thinks like a problem solver

Tries strategies like drawing, working backwards and looking for patterns when a problem has no obvious method.

Explains reasoning clearly

Writes and talks through solutions, a skill that helps in every subject.

Stays engaged with math

A bright child who was bored in class gets challenge that keeps their interest alive.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Problem-solving strategies

Drawing diagrams, making tables, working backwards, finding patterns and solving simpler cases.

Number theory

Primes, divisibility, factors, remainders and number puzzles.

Logic and reasoning

Logic puzzles, proof by cases and spotting what a question is really asking.

Geometry challenges

Angle chasing, area puzzles and spatial reasoning beyond grade level.

Counting and probability

Systematic counting, combinations and probability puzzles.

Competition-style problems

An introduction to the style of MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, UKMT and Australian Mathematics Competition questions.

Signs your child could use help

  • Finishes class work early and gets bored
  • Asks why, not just how
  • Enjoys puzzles, logic games or patterns
  • Teacher says they are working above grade level
  • Curious about math competitions
  • Losing interest because school feels too easy

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

Beyond grade-level standards; MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8 style

Enrichment goes deeper than grade-level standards rather than racing ahead. Middle schoolers can be introduced to MATHCOUNTS and AMC 8 style problems.

Beyond the National Curriculum; UKMT challenges

Lessons stretch more able pupils with depth and problem solving, and can introduce the style of UK Mathematics Trust Junior and Intermediate challenges.

Level: Years 3-11, more able pupils

Beyond provincial curricula; CEMC contests

Lessons can introduce the style of University of Waterloo CEMC contests such as the Gauss contest for Grades 7 and 8.

Level: Grades 2-10, gifted learners

Beyond the Australian Curriculum; AMC style

Lessons can introduce the style of Australian Mathematics Competition questions, alongside deeper problem solving.

Level: Years 2-10, high achievers

What an enrichment lesson looks like

One 45-minute session. Tutors adjust the timings to your child.

  1. 6 min

    Puzzle of the day

A short logic or number puzzle.

  2. 10 min

    Strategy

A problem-solving strategy taught with an example.

  3. 18 min

    Challenge problems

Your child works through harder problems with hints as needed.

  4. 7 min

    Explain a solution

Your child presents one solution in their own words.

  5. 4 min

    Wrap-up

A take-home puzzle and a note for you.

How enrichment lessons work

Depth over speed

We explore ideas more deeply rather than rushing through future grades, which can leave gaps.

Productive struggle

Tutors let your child wrestle with a problem before giving hints, which builds real problem-solving skill.

Talk and write solutions

Explaining a solution clearly is part of every lesson.

Honest about limits

If your child is aiming for olympiad level, we will tell you when a specialist coach is a better fit.

Common worries, honest answers

“Will enrichment make my child bored at school?”

We focus on depth rather than next year's content, so school stays useful while your child gets extra challenge.

“My child gets frustrated when problems are hard.”

That is common in bright children used to getting things right quickly. Tutors build tolerance for challenge gradually.

“Do you coach for math olympiads?”

We introduce competition-style problems and strategies. For olympiad-level preparation, a specialist coach is usually the better choice, and we will say so.

Frequently asked questions

What is math enrichment?

Math enrichment gives children who are ahead deeper and broader math experiences, such as problem solving, puzzles, number theory and competition-style questions, rather than simply moving faster through future grades. It keeps advanced learners challenged and engaged.

Is my child ready for math competitions?

Children who enjoy puzzles, finish class work quickly and can explain their thinking are often ready to try competition-style problems. Enrichment lessons are a low-pressure way to find out before entering a contest.

What is the AMC 8?

The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute multiple-choice math competition from the Mathematical Association of America for students in Grade 8 and below. It focuses on problem solving rather than advanced content.

How much does the math enrichment program cost?

Plans start at $85 a month for two 45-minute one-to-one lessons a week. Three lessons a week cost $119 and four cost $149. There is no contract.

Should my child skip a grade in math instead?

Acceleration suits some children, but it can leave gaps if done too quickly. Enrichment adds depth while keeping your child with their class. The right choice depends on your child and school.

Can enrichment be combined with school support?

Yes. Some lessons can cover current school topics while the rest go to enrichment, depending on what your child needs.
