How it works, in short

TaleemSquare offers one-to-one online math lessons adapted for children with ADHD or attention difficulties. Tutors break lessons into short tasks, build in movement breaks, use visual and hands-on representations, and keep the same routine every lesson, so your child can focus on the math.

We are a tutoring service, not a clinical or special-education provider, and we do not diagnose. Lessons can work alongside an IEP, 504 plan or school accommodations. Plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Worked solution of a linear equation on the shared lesson whiteboard
Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Longer stretches of focus

Short, varied tasks help your child stay engaged for more of the lesson over time.

Fewer careless errors

Checklists and routines reduce the skipped steps and misread questions that cost marks.

Math confidence

A child used to feeling behind gets regular success, which changes how they see math.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Grade-level math

The same math as your child's class, taught in a format that suits their attention.

Math facts

Quick, game-based fact practice to reduce the load on working memory.

Multi-step problems

Breaking longer problems into small, checkable steps.

Word problems

Highlighting key information and using a simple routine to plan.

Organization skills

Neat working, checklists and planning homework time.

Test strategies

Pacing, checking work and using any test accommodations well.

Signs your child could use help

  • Knows the math but makes many careless mistakes
  • Struggles to start or finish homework
  • Loses focus quickly in longer tasks
  • Skips steps or misreads questions
  • Math frustration leads to meltdowns
  • Group settings are too distracting

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

Grade-level standards with IEP or 504 accommodations

Tutors teach your child's grade-level math and can respect accommodations from an IEP or 504 plan, such as extra time, chunked tasks or reduced problem sets. Share the plan if you are comfortable.

National Curriculum with SEN support or an EHCP

Tutors follow your child's year group and can work alongside SEN support or an Education, Health and Care plan, using the adjustments that help in school.

Level: Any year, including pupils with SEND support

Provincial curricula with an Individual Education Plan

Lessons follow your province's curriculum and can reflect accommodations in your child's IEP.

Australian Curriculum with school adjustments

Tutors follow your child's year level and can mirror reasonable adjustments made at school, including for NAPLAN.

Level: Foundation to Year 12

How we adapt lessons

Short, varied tasks

Lessons switch activity every few minutes, with clear start and finish points for each task.

Movement and breaks

Quick movement breaks are built in, and fidgeting is fine as long as the math gets done.

Visual, hands-on methods

Color, drawings and virtual manipulatives make abstract ideas concrete and memorable.

Predictable routine

Every lesson follows the same structure, which lowers anxiety and saves focus for learning.

Common worries, honest answers

“Can my child with ADHD focus in an online lesson?”

Many do well online because there are fewer distractions than a classroom and the tutor's attention is entirely on them. We adjust activity length to your child.

“Are your tutors ADHD specialists?”

No. Our tutors adapt their teaching for attention difficulties, but we are not a clinical or special-education service. For diagnosis or therapy, speak to your doctor or school.

“Should lessons be shorter?”

Lessons are 45 minutes, broken into short activities. If that is too long for your child, discuss it at the free assessment and we will suggest options.

Frequently asked questions

Can a tutor help a child with ADHD in math?

Yes. One-to-one tutoring can help because the tutor can break work into short steps, keep the pace varied and give immediate feedback. Tutoring does not treat ADHD, but it can make math more manageable and help a child build skills and confidence.

How do you teach math to a child with ADHD?

Common strategies include short tasks with clear goals, frequent changes of activity, movement breaks, visual and hands-on representations, consistent routines and checklists for multi-step problems. Praise for effort and quick wins also help keep motivation up.

Do you work with IEPs and 504 plans?

Yes. If you share your child's IEP, 504 plan or school accommodations, tutors can reflect relevant adjustments in lessons, such as extra time or chunked work. We do not write or manage these plans.

How much does math tutoring for ADHD cost?

The same as any TaleemSquare plan: $85 a month for two 45-minute one-to-one lessons a week, $119 for three or $149 for four. There is no contract, and the first assessment is free.

Is online tutoring good for kids with ADHD?

It can be. Online lessons remove travel and classroom distractions, and the shared whiteboard keeps a child active. Some children need a parent nearby at first. The free assessment shows whether the format suits your child.

Do you also help with dyscalculia?

Our tutors can adapt lessons for children who find number concepts very hard, using concrete and visual methods. We do not diagnose dyscalculia; for an assessment, speak to your school or an educational psychologist.
