How it works, in short
Trigonometry tutoring at TaleemSquare is one-to-one and 45 minutes per lesson. Tutors start wherever your child is, from first right-triangle ratios in Grade 9 or 10 to the unit circle, radians, graphs, identities and trig equations in Algebra 2, precalculus or senior courses.
Trig builds in layers, so a weak first layer causes problems for years. The free assessment shows which layer needs work. Plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Picks the right ratio every time
Labels opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse correctly and knows when to use sine, cosine, tangent or their inverses.
Knows the unit circle
Finds exact values in degrees and radians and understands where each value comes from.
Solves non-right triangles
Uses the laws of sines and cosines and the area formula, including tricky ambiguous cases.
What we cover
Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.
Right-triangle trigonometry
SOH CAH TOA, inverse trig to find angles, angles of elevation and depression, and bearings.
Special triangles and exact values
30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles and the exact values that come from them.
Laws of sines and cosines
Solving any triangle, the ambiguous case and the sine area formula.
Radians and the unit circle
Converting between degrees and radians, reference angles and signs in each quadrant.
Trig graphs
Graphing sine, cosine and tangent with changes in amplitude, period and phase.
Identities and equations
Pythagorean and double-angle identities, proving identities and solving equations over an interval.
Signs your child could use help
- Mixes up opposite and adjacent sides
- Calculator gives wrong answers because of degree and radian mode
- Can't remember exact values without a chart
- Bearings and elevation questions cause panic
- Identity proofs go in circles
- Trig is pulling down an otherwise good grade
One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.
Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live
Geometry, Algebra 2 and Precalculus (state standards)
Right-triangle trig usually appears in Geometry, the unit circle and trig functions in Algebra 2 or Precalculus. Some schools offer a standalone Trigonometry course. We follow whichever course your child is in.
GCSE Maths and A-level Mathematics
GCSE covers SOH CAH TOA and exact values, with the sine and cosine rules on the Higher tier. A-level adds radians, identities and trig equations. We follow your exam board.
Level: GCSE trigonometry to A-level
Provincial Grades 10-12 mathematics
Trigonometry is taught in Grade 10 math and developed in Grade 11-12 functions courses such as Ontario's MCR3U and MHF4U. We follow your province's course.
Level: Grades 10-12 trigonometry
Australian Curriculum and senior mathematics
Years 9 and 10 cover right-triangle trig and the sine and cosine rules. Senior Methods, Advanced and Specialist courses add the unit circle, radians and trig functions.
Level: Years 9-12 trigonometry

How we teach trigonometry
Label before you calculate
Every triangle gets labeled from the angle's point of view before any ratio is chosen. This one habit removes most errors.
Build exact values from triangles
Students derive the unit circle values from two special triangles, so they can rebuild them in an exam.
Check the calculator
We make degree and radian mode a checklist item, because it causes a surprising number of lost marks.
Real contexts
Heights, ramps, navigation and waves make trig concrete and match the word problems schools set.

Common worries, honest answers
“My child just needs help with one trig unit.”
That is fine. Many families use us for a specific unit, then pause. You can cancel any month without a contract.
“Will online lessons work for drawing triangles?”
Yes. Your child draws on the shared whiteboard with a mouse, trackpad or tablet stylus, and the tutor can annotate the same diagram.
“My child is good at memorizing but forgets everything later.”
We teach where formulas come from, which makes them far easier to recall months later in exams.
