How it works, in short

TaleemSquare Florida EOC math tutoring is live, one-to-one online help for students preparing for the B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 and Geometry end-of-course exams. A tutor works on the Florida B.E.S.T. standards your child finds hardest and practices the computer-adaptive format, given in one 160-minute session with an online scientific calculator.

Students must pass the Algebra 1 EOC, with a score of 400 or an accepted comparative score, to graduate, and the EOC counts for 30 percent of the course grade. There are fall, winter, spring and summer test windows in 2026-27. Plans start at $85 a month, with no contract.

What changes after a term of lessons

Worked solution of a linear equation on the shared lesson whiteboard
Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Ready for the passing score

Works toward Achievement Level 3 on Algebra 1, a scale score of 400, which meets the graduation requirement.

Protecting the course grade

Prepares for an exam that counts for 30 percent of the final course grade, so a year of good work is not undone in one test.

Comfortable with the test format

Practices the computer-adaptive format, the online scientific calculator and the reference sheet, and builds stamina for a 160-minute session.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Linear equations and inequalities

Solving and graphing linear equations, inequalities and systems from the B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 standards.

Functions

Function notation, domain and range, and comparing linear, quadratic and exponential functions in graphs, tables and equations.

Quadratics and polynomials

Factoring, solving quadratic equations and working with polynomial expressions, a large part of Algebra 1.

Data and statistics

Scatter plots, lines of fit and two-way tables, as covered in the Algebra 1 standards.

Congruence, similarity and proof

Transformations, triangle congruence and similarity, and logical reasoning for the Geometry EOC.

Circles, trigonometry and measurement

Right triangle trigonometry, circles, area and volume, and coordinate geometry for the Geometry EOC.

Strategy for an adaptive exam

Working carefully on each question, using the reference sheet and calculator well, and pacing across the 160-minute session.

Signs your child could use help

  • Scored below 400 on the Algebra 1 EOC and needs to retake
  • Is taking Algebra 1 or Geometry this year, in middle or high school
  • Has a course grade that depends on a strong EOC score
  • Struggles with functions, quadratics or proofs in class
  • Has no SAT, PSAT or ACT comparative score on file yet
  • Needs more help than the school's test review offers

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

B.E.S.T. Algebra 1 and Geometry EOC Assessments (Florida Department of Education)

Students completing Algebra 1 or Geometry take the matching EOC, including middle schoolers. In 2026-27 there are windows from September 8 to October 2 and November 30 to December 18, plus spring and summer windows. Achievement Level 3 means on grade level, and passing Algebra 1 is required to graduate.

For families moving from the UK

The Algebra 1 and Geometry EOCs cover roughly upper Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 maths. We check your child's gaps against the Florida B.E.S.T. standards rather than the UK curriculum, then practice the EOC format.

Level: Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 4 maths

For families moving from Canada

Provincial math covers similar algebra and geometry, but the EOCs follow Florida's B.E.S.T. standards and a computer-adaptive format. We map what your child learned to those standards and practice the format.

Level: Grades 8-10 math

For families moving from Australia

Australian Years 8 to 10 maths covers similar algebra and geometry. The EOCs follow Florida's B.E.S.T. standards and count toward the course grade, so we fill gaps against those standards and practice the format.

Who teaches your child

Every TaleemSquare math tutor passes the same five checks before their first class. Your child keeps the same tutor each week, and if the fit is not right we switch tutor at no cost. Tutors are based in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Pakistan and India, and all of them teach in English.

How we screen and match tutors
  • Identity and references checked

Every tutor is identity-verified and reference-checked before teaching a student.

  • Subject test

Tutors pass a subject test before they are matched with a child.

  • Spoken-English assessment

Lessons are taught in English, so every tutor passes a spoken-English assessment.

  • Live sample lesson

Tutors teach a live sample lesson before they are hired, to show they can explain clearly.

  • Open to parents

Classes are one-to-one in a password-protected room. Sit in on any class or ask for a recording.

How Florida EOC math lessons work

Start with a skills check

The first lesson finds which course standards your child has secure and which need work, using EOC-style questions.

Teach, then practice the format

Each skill is taught step by step, then practiced in EOC-style questions on screen with the online calculator.

Build toward test conditions

Short timed sets grow into full 160-minute practice sessions as the testing window gets closer.

Updates for parents

You get a short note after every lesson on what was covered and what to practice next.

Common worries, honest answers

“My child did not pass the Algebra 1 EOC. What are the options?”

Students can retake the EOC in a later window, including fall, winter and summer. A comparative score also meets the requirement, such as 420 on SAT Math, 430 on PSAT 10 or PSAT/NMSQT Math, 16 on ACT Math, or Level 3 on the Geometry EOC.

“My child gets anxious about tests. Will this make it worse?”

We keep early practice calm and short, and build confidence by showing progress. Knowing the format well usually makes test day feel familiar instead of scary.

“My child is in middle school and taking Algebra 1. Do they take the EOC?”

Yes. The Florida Department of Education says middle grades students enrolled in Algebra 1 or Geometry must take the matching EOC, not the grade-level math test. Starting early gives more time to reach the passing score before high school ends.

Frequently asked questions

When is the Florida Algebra 1 EOC in 2026-27?

The Florida Department of Education's 2026-27 schedule lists EOC windows of September 8 to October 2, 2026 and November 30 to December 18, 2026, plus spring and summer windows in 2027. Your district picks the test days inside each window.

What score passes the Algebra 1 EOC?

The passing score is 400, the lowest score in Achievement Level 3, on a scale from 325 to 475. Level 3 means on-grade-level performance. Students who reach it meet the Algebra 1 assessment requirement for graduation.

Can my child use an SAT or ACT score instead?

Yes. FDOE accepts comparative scores including 420 on SAT Math, 430 on PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 Math, 16 on ACT Math or PreACT Secure Math, and 14 on CLT Quantitative Reasoning. Students enrolled in Algebra 1 still take the EOC even with a score on file.

How much does the EOC count in the course grade?

The EOC result is averaged in as 30 percent of the final course grade for students in Algebra 1 or Geometry. That is why a strong score matters even for students who have already met the graduation requirement another way.

What is the Florida EOC test like?

Both EOCs are computer-adaptive and given in one 160-minute session with a short break after the first 80 minutes. Students who need more time can keep working up to the length of a typical school day. An online scientific calculator and reference sheet are built in.

How much does Florida EOC math tutoring cost?

Plans start at $85 a month for two 45-minute lessons a week, with no contract. You can start with a free assessment, where the tutor checks your child's level against the Florida B.E.S.T. standards and suggests a plan.
