How it works, in short
TaleemSquare IB math tutoring is live, one-to-one and 45 minutes per lesson, for students in IB Diploma Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, at SL or HL, and for MYP maths. Tutors work through the syllabus, past-paper style questions and calculator skills.
For the internal assessment, tutors help with choosing a topic and understanding the math, but never write it, in line with IB academic integrity rules. Plans start at $85 a month.

What changes after a term of lessons

Comfortable across the syllabus
Confident in number and algebra, functions, geometry and trig, statistics and probability, and calculus.
Prepared for each paper
Knows what each paper demands, including the non-calculator paper for AA and the HL problem-solving paper.
A clearer path for the IA
Has a workable exploration topic and understands the math in it, with the writing kept entirely their own.
What we cover
Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.
Number and algebra
Sequences and series, exponents and logarithms, proof (AA) and financial math applications (AI).
Functions
Function properties, transformations and modeling with linear, quadratic, exponential and trig functions.
Geometry and trigonometry
Trig in 2D and 3D, the unit circle (AA), Voronoi diagrams (AI) and vectors at HL.
Statistics and probability
Descriptive statistics, regression, probability distributions and, for AI, hypothesis testing.
Calculus
Differentiation and integration with applications; HL adds further techniques and differential equations.
Calculator technique
Using the graphing calculator efficiently for the papers where it is allowed.
Internal assessment guidance
Topic choice, the IA criteria and checking understanding of the math used. The student does all the writing.
Signs your child could use help
- Unsure whether AA or AI suits them better
- Strong in class but slow in timed papers
- HL content moving faster than they can keep up
- No clear IA topic yet
- Predicted grade lower than university offers require
- Calculator use is slowing them down
One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.
Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live
IB Diploma Programme Mathematics at US schools
Many US public and private high schools offer the IB Diploma. Students take Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation at SL or HL, alongside the internal assessment. Lessons follow the IB guide and the school's teaching order.
Level: IB DP at US high schools
IB Diploma Mathematics at UK schools
IB schools in the UK teach the same two courses as everywhere else. Students who are choosing between IB and A-levels can discuss the differences at the free assessment.
Level: Alternative to A-level Maths
IB Diploma Mathematics at Canadian schools
IB programmes in Ontario, BC, Alberta and other provinces follow the same IB courses. Tutors can also help where school courses and IB content overlap.
IB Diploma Mathematics at Australian schools
Some Australian schools offer the IB Diploma instead of the state certificate. Tutors follow the IB course and exam style, not the state syllabus.
Level: Alternative to HSC, VCE or QCE

How we teach IB maths
Syllabus map
We map your child's progress against the IB topic list so weak areas are visible early, not just before exams.
Paper-specific practice
Questions are practised in the style of the paper they will appear on, with and without the calculator as appropriate.
Academic integrity first
For the IA, tutors explain math and give general feedback but never write, edit or produce any part of the work.
Exam-season planning
In the final months, lessons follow a plan of timed sections and focused review.

Common worries, honest answers
“Will the tutor write or edit my child's IA?”
No. IB rules require the IA to be the student's own work. Tutors can explain the math involved and discuss topic ideas, but the writing and decisions stay with your child.
“Our school is in a different time zone.”
We schedule lessons in your local time, including weekends, so time zone is rarely a problem.
“My child is in HL and might drop to SL.”
The free assessment can help you see where your child stands. The decision belongs to your child and school, but we can share an honest view.
