How it works, in short
TaleemSquare ILEARN math tutoring is live, one-to-one online help for Indiana students in grades 3 to 8 preparing for ILEARN, the state's through-year math test. A tutor works on the Indiana Academic Standards your child finds hardest and practices the computer-adaptive format used in the three Checkpoints and the end-of-year summative.
The spring 2027 summative window is April 12 to May 7, 2027, and the math summative no longer includes a performance task. Indiana updated its performance standards in spring 2026. Plans start at $85 a month, with no contract.

What changes after a term of lessons

Solid on the tested standards
Fills gaps in the grade-level skills ILEARN checks, from fractions and place value to ratios and linear equations.
Ready for every Checkpoint
Knows each Checkpoint covers a set of skills in 20 to 25 questions, so practice targets what is coming next.
Calm with an adaptive test
Knows that questions adjust to each answer, so it works carefully and checks each step instead of rushing.
What we cover
Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.
Number and operations
Place value, multi-digit arithmetic and operations with decimals and rational numbers, matched to your child's grade in the Indiana Academic Standards.
Fractions
Fraction equivalence, comparing fractions and operations with fractions, a major focus of the grades 3 to 5 standards.
Ratios and proportional reasoning
Ratios, rates, percents and proportional relationships, central to the grades 6 and 7 tests.
Expressions and equations
Writing and solving equations and inequalities, through linear equations and systems in grade 8.
Geometry and measurement
Area, volume, angles, the coordinate plane and transformations, matched to the grade-level standards.
Statistics and probability
Data displays, measures of center and simple probability, as taught in middle school.
Non-calculator items
Grades 6 to 8 include non-calculator items on number sense and algebra standards, so we keep mental and written arithmetic sharp.
Signs your child could use help
- Scored Below or Approaching Proficiency on the last ILEARN math test
- Had a weak Checkpoint result this year
- Struggles with fractions, ratios or equations in class
- Relies on a calculator for basic arithmetic
- Is moving into accelerated or advanced math
- Needs more help than the school's test review offers
One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.
Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live
ILEARN Mathematics (Indiana Department of Education)
Grades 3 to 8 take three Checkpoints from September 2026 to April 2027 and the summative from April 12 to May 7, 2027. At Proficiency starts at 485 in grade 3 and 661 in grade 8. Grade 11 students take the SAT in March.
For families moving from the UK
ILEARN in grades 3 to 8 covers roughly Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 maths. We check your child's gaps against the Indiana Academic Standards rather than the UK curriculum, then practice the adaptive format.
Level: Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3 maths
For families moving from Canada
Provincial math covers similar topics, but ILEARN follows the Indiana Academic Standards and adds Checkpoints during the year. We map what your child learned to those standards and practice the format.
Level: Grades 3-8 math
For families moving from Australia
NAPLAN numeracy tests Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. ILEARN tests every grade from 3 to 8, several times a year, so we fill gaps against the Indiana standards and practice the format.

Tutors pass a subject test before they are matched with a child.
Spoken-English assessment
Lessons are taught in English, so every tutor passes a spoken-English assessment.
Live sample lesson
Tutors teach a live sample lesson before they are hired, to show they can explain clearly.

How ILEARN math lessons work
Start with a skills check
The first lesson finds which grade-level standards your child has secure and which need work, using test-style questions.
Plan around the Checkpoints
Lessons line up with the skills each Checkpoint covers, then review everything before the spring summative.
Teach, then practice the format
Each skill is taught step by step, then practiced in adaptive-style items, including non-calculator questions.
Updates for parents
You get a short note after every lesson on what was covered and what to practice next.

“Why does my child test so often this year?”
Indiana now gives three short Checkpoints plus the spring summative in grades 3 to 8. The state says Checkpoint data informs instruction and interventions, so each one is a useful guide to what to practice next.
“My child gets anxious about tests. Will this make it worse?”
We keep early practice calm and short, and build confidence by showing progress. Knowing the format well usually makes test day feel familiar instead of scary.
“Can we compare this year's score with older reports?”
Not directly. Indiana updated its ILEARN performance standards starting with spring 2026, for both the summative and the Checkpoints. Compare levels from spring 2026 onward, and focus on which skills need work.
