How it works, in short

Twelfth grade math tutoring at TaleemSquare is a live, one-to-one lesson that follows your child's senior-year course. US seniors commonly take Precalculus, AP Calculus AB or BC, AP Statistics, or a statistics or college algebra course. The tutor reteaches hard topics, supports homework and prepares your child for tests and the AP exam.

Senior year math also sets up college. A strong final grade and a good AP score can help, and solid foundations make first-year college math easier. In the UK this matches Year 13 and in Australia Year 12. Plans start at $85 a month, with no contract.

What changes after a term of lessons

Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Confident in senior-year math

Understands limits, derivatives, statistics or advanced functions well enough to keep pace with each unit.

Ready for the AP exam

Reviews the full course with exam-style questions and timed practice in the weeks before May.

Prepared for college math

Leaves high school with the algebra and problem-solving habits that first-year college math expects.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Limits and continuity

What a limit means, how to evaluate limits and how continuity connects to the graph of a function.

Derivatives and their uses

Differentiation rules, rates of change, optimization and curve sketching, as taught in AP Calculus AB and BC.

Integrals

Antiderivatives, definite integrals, area and accumulation problems, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus.

Advanced functions and trigonometry

Polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions for students in Precalculus.

Statistics and probability

Data analysis, sampling, probability and inference, matching AP Statistics and senior statistics courses.

Free-response practice

Writing clear, complete solutions in the style of AP free-response questions, so marks are not lost on working.

Exam review plan

A week-by-week review leading up to the May AP exam or final exams, with weak units first.

Signs your child could use help

  • Grades slipped in Precalculus or Calculus
  • Finds limits, derivatives or integrals confusing
  • Struggles with AP free-response questions
  • Has an AP exam in May
  • Wants to start college math on solid ground
  • Needs a strong final math grade

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Taught to your curriculum, wherever you live

Precalculus, AP Calculus and AP Statistics

Many seniors take Precalculus, AP Calculus AB or BC, or AP Statistics. The College Board lists the 2027 AP Calculus AB and BC exams for May 10, 2027, and AP Statistics for May 11, 2027. We follow your child's course and exam dates.

A level Mathematics, Year 13 (exam year)

Year 13 completes the A level Mathematics course in pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics, with final exams at the end of the year. Lessons combine weak-topic repair with past-paper practice.

Grade 12 mathematics (provincial courses)

Grade 12 university-preparation math includes Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, and Data Management in Ontario, Pre-calculus 12 and Calculus 12 in BC, and Math 30-1 and Math 31 in Alberta. Lessons follow your province's course.

Level: Grade 12

Senior secondary mathematics, Year 12

Year 12 students finish courses such as VCE Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics, or HSC Mathematics Advanced and Extension. Lessons follow the course and build toward final exams.

Who teaches your child

Every TaleemSquare math tutor passes the same five checks before their first class. Your child keeps the same tutor each week, and if the fit is not right we switch tutor at no cost. Tutors are based in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Pakistan and India, and all of them teach in English.

How we screen and match tutors
  • Identity and references checked

Every tutor is identity-verified and reference-checked before teaching a student.

  • Subject test

Tutors pass a subject test before they are matched with a child.

  • Spoken-English assessment

Lessons are taught in English, so every tutor passes a spoken-English assessment.

  • Live sample lesson

Tutors teach a live sample lesson before they are hired, to show they can explain clearly.

  • Open to parents

Classes are one-to-one in a password-protected room. Sit in on any class or ask for a recording.

How 12th grade math lessons work

Follow the school course

We work from your child's syllabus, homework and test dates, so lessons support what is happening in class.

Strengthen the foundations

Calculus problems often go wrong in the algebra. The tutor repairs these gaps while teaching the new topic.

Exam-style practice

As the AP exam or finals get closer, lessons shift to past-style questions, free-response writing and timed practice.

Updates for parents

You get a short note after every lesson on what was covered and what to practice next.

Common worries, honest answers

“Is senior year too late to get help?”

No. A few months of steady lessons can lift a grade and prepare your child for the AP exam. We start with the units that matter most for the next test.

“Can you help with AP Calculus BC as well as AB?”

Yes. Tell us the course, and the tutor follows your child's textbook and pacing, including the extra BC topics such as series.

“My child is heading to college soon. Is tutoring still worth it?”

Strong senior-year math makes first-year college math easier. Lessons can also review algebra and functions so your child starts college confident.

Frequently asked questions

What math do 12th graders usually take?

Common senior-year courses are Precalculus, AP Calculus AB or BC, AP Statistics, and statistics or college algebra courses. Some students take dual-enrollment college math. We teach whichever course your child is in and follow the school's pace and tests.

When are the 2027 AP Calculus and AP Statistics exams?

The College Board lists AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC for Monday, May 10, 2027, in the morning session, and AP Statistics for Tuesday, May 11, 2027, in the afternoon session. We plan review lessons backwards from those dates.

How do you prepare students for AP free-response questions?

The tutor teaches how to set out complete solutions, practices past-style free-response questions with your child and reviews each answer step by step, so marks are not lost through missing working or unclear reasoning.

How long are the lessons?

Each lesson is 45 minutes, live and one-to-one on Google Meet or Zoom. Most students take 2 or 3 lessons a week during the school year, and more before the AP exam.

How much does 12th grade math tutoring cost?

Plans start at $85 a month for 2 lessons a week, with no contract. If your child isn't more confident after the first 4 paid classes, we refund what you paid for them.

Can my child try a lesson first?

Yes. You can book a free assessment, where your child meets the tutor and works through a few problems at their level. You get an honest view of where they are and a suggested plan.
