Lessons happen on a shared whiteboard, so your child solves while the tutor watches and guides (example lesson).

Strong contest foundations

Secure elementary algebra, geometry, number theory and probability, the areas MAA lists for the AMC 10.

Speed with accuracy

Works through 25 questions in 75 minutes, choosing which problems to attempt first and checking answers along the way.

Ready for harder problems

Gets comfortable with multi-step problems so the later questions feel approachable, with the AIME as a longer-term goal.

What we cover

Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.

Elementary algebra

Equations, inequalities, functions and word problems, solved quickly and cleanly.

Geometry

Triangles, circles, similarity, coordinate geometry, and area and volume formulas.

Number theory

Divisibility, primes, remainders and digits, frequent themes in contest problems.

Counting and probability

Casework, combinations and elementary probability, with organized methods that avoid missed cases.

Problem-solving strategies

Working backward, testing answer choices, symmetry and smart substitutions.

Contest pacing

Full 25-question, 75-minute practice sets and a plan for which problems to try first.

AIME-style practice

For strong students, harder problems with integer answers from 0 to 999, like those on the 15-question AIME.

Signs your child could use help

  • Will take the AMC 10A or 10B in November 2026
  • Did well on the AMC 8 and wants the next step
  • Hopes to qualify for the AIME
  • Finishes school math quickly but struggles with contest problems
  • Runs out of time before the last questions
  • Wants stronger algebra and geometry before harder high school courses

One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

Who teaches your child

Every TaleemSquare math tutor passes the same five checks before their first class. Your child keeps the same tutor each week, and if the fit is not right we switch tutor at no cost. Tutors are based in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Pakistan and India, and all of them teach in English.

How we screen and match tutors
  • Identity and references checked

Every tutor is identity-verified and reference-checked before teaching a student.

  • Subject test

Tutors pass a subject test before they are matched with a child.

  • Spoken-English assessment

Lessons are taught in English, so every tutor passes a spoken-English assessment.

  • Live sample lesson

Tutors teach a live sample lesson before they are hired, to show they can explain clearly.

  • Open to parents

Classes are one-to-one in a password-protected room. Sit in on any class or ask for a recording.

How AMC 10 prep lessons work

Find the gaps

The first lesson uses contest-style problems across algebra, geometry, number theory and counting to find what needs work.

Build topic by topic

Each lesson strengthens one area with our own AMC-style problems and worked solutions.

Timed practice and review

Short timed sets grow into full 75-minute practice, and we review every mistake together.

Updates for parents

You get a short note after every lesson on what was covered and what to practice next.

Common worries, honest answers

“Should my child take the 10A, the 10B or both?”

MAA lets each competition manager choose one date or have students take both, and each sitting needs its own student license. Ask your school or site which dates it offers before planning practice around them.

“My child is in grade 8. Is the AMC 10 too early?”

Students in grade 10 and below can take it, so younger students are allowed. If algebra and geometry are still new, we may start with AMC 8 level problems and build up from there.

“Do you use real AMC 10 problems?”

Lessons use our own AMC-style problems and focus on strategies, not memorized answers. MAA posts sample competitions, such as the 2022 AMC 10 A, which your child can try at home as a practice run.
