Bakersfield's spring 2027 CAASPP dates, calculator rules and high school math

  • Bakersfield City School District has posted its 2026-27 Smarter Balanced (CAASPP) window: April 19 to May 14, 2027. Math testing, both the computer adaptive test and the performance task, runs April 19 to 23, with make-ups May 1 to 14. Students in grades 3 to 8 take the math test.
  • For the state math test, BCSD notes that grades 3 to 5 use no calculator, grade 6 uses a four-function calculator, and grades 7 and 8 use a scientific calculator. BCSD also gives Star Math tests and uses Star State Benchmarks to show whether a scaled score is on track for CAASPP.
  • Kern High School District, based in Bakersfield, serves grades 9 to 12. California's minimum to graduate is two math courses, including one year of Algebra I. KHSD says its course offerings exceed state graduation requirements and give students routes to the A-G courses needed for UC and CSU admission.

A one-to-one online tutor can review grade-level CAASPP math under the right calculator rules before the April 2027 window, and build Algebra I skills for the move to Kern High School District.
