How it works, in short
TaleemSquare MOEMS tutoring is live, one-to-one online coaching for students in grades 4 to 8 taking the Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools. A tutor teaches problem-solving strategies such as drawing a diagram, working backward and finding patterns, and practices five-problem sets in 30 minutes without a calculator.
Division E is for grades 4 to 6 and Division M for grades 6 to 8. The 2026-27 season has five contests from November 2026 to March 2027, taken through school, homeschool or institute teams. Plans start at $85 a month, with no contract.

What changes after a term of lessons

A toolkit of strategies
Learns when to draw a picture, make a table, work backward or look for a pattern, and uses them on new problems.
Speed with accuracy
Solves five problems in 30 minutes with no calculator, checking each answer because every problem counts.
Confidence with hard problems
Stays calm on unfamiliar problems and keeps trying different approaches instead of giving up.
What we cover
Lessons follow your child's own school or homeschool curriculum. These are the areas we work on most at this level.
Arithmetic and number sense
Fast mental math, order of operations and clever ways to compute, which save time in a 30-minute contest.
Number theory
Factors, multiples, primes, divisibility and remainders, common themes in olympiad-style problems.
Logic and patterns
Sequences, logical reasoning and organized lists that make sure every case is found.
Counting and probability
Systematic counting, simple combinations and basic probability problems.
Geometry and measurement
Perimeter, area, angles and shapes in puzzle-style problems.
Algebraic thinking
Unknowns, guess and check, and working backward on word problems, before formal algebra.
Contest practice
Five-problem sets in 30 minutes with no calculator, matching the MOEMS format.
Signs your child could use help
- Joined or plans to join a MOEMS team this season
- Finds regular math too easy and wants a challenge
- Gets stuck on multi-step word problems
- Runs out of time on contest problems
- Wants to earn a MOEMS patch or pin
- Enjoys puzzles and wants to go further in math
One of these on its own is normal. Two or three together usually point to a specific gap, and finding it is what the free assessment is for.

How MOEMS lessons work
Find the starting level
The first lesson uses a few contest-style problems to see which strategies your child already uses.
One strategy at a time
Each lesson teaches one strategy, like working backward, then applies it to several problems.
Regular contest practice
Five-problem, 30-minute sets build speed, and we review every mistake together.
Updates for parents
You get a short note after every lesson on what was covered and what to practice next.

EnrollCommon worries, honest answers
“My child's school has no MOEMS team. Can they still take part?”
MOEMS teams can come from public, private and parochial schools, homeschool groups and institutes, and a parent can register a team as an institute. Homeschool teams are affiliated with a district or a larger homeschool association. Teams can have up to 35 students.
“Is MOEMS too hard for my child?”
Problems are written for grades 4 to 8 and use school-level math in new ways. Many children find them hard at first. With steady strategy practice, they usually get easier.
“Will tutoring take the fun out of it?”
We keep lessons puzzle-based and let your child try ideas before giving hints. The goal is a student who enjoys hard problems, not one who memorizes tricks.
