EQAO math tests and Grade 9 MTH1W in Markham schools

  • Markham students in Grades 3 and 6 write EQAO's online math assessment between May 4 and June 8, 2027. The tests follow Ontario's 2020 Grades 1 to 8 math curriculum, and the results are not included in report card grades.
  • Grade 9 students take MTH1W, Ontario's de-streamed Grade 9 math course. EQAO's Grade 9 Assessment of Mathematics runs from January 12 to February 5, 2027 and from June 8 to 30, 2027, and the result counts as part of the final course mark.
  • YRDSB screens every Grade 3 student for gifted programming from late November to early December using the Canadian Cognitive Abilities Test (CCAT). Students who meet the cutoff get an individual WISC-V assessment, and a score at or above the 98th percentile is considered.

A tutor can teach the Ontario curriculum and MTH1W topics your child sees in class, practise EQAO-style online questions, and build the skills needed for Grade 10 and Grade 11 math.
