Quebec ministry math exams for Montreal students
- Quebec students write a ministry math exam at the end of Elementary 6. In the English sector, the 2027 exam (522-610) is set for June 8, 9 and 10, 2027. Ministry exams at the elementary level count for 20% of the final mark for the competency evaluated.
- In Secondary 4, students follow one of three math sequences: Cultural, Social and Technical (CST), Technical and Scientific (TS) or Science (SN). The June 2027 ministry exams are June 11 for TS and SN and June 18 for CST, and they count for 50% of the final mark.
- To earn the Secondary School Diploma (DES), a student needs 54 credits in Secondary 4 and 5, with at least 20 at the Secondary 5 level, including 4 credits in Secondary 4 Mathematics. The EMSB notes that many CEGEP programs have their own prerequisites, such as Math 506.
A tutor can follow your child's CST, TS or SN sequence, rehearse the reasoning problems used on the Secondary 4 ministry exam, and strengthen Elementary 6 problem solving before the June exams.
