The OSSLT and EQAO reading in Ottawa
- Ontario students are expected to write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) for the first time in Grade 10. Passing it is one of the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma, and it's taken online at school.
- Students who don't pass can write it again at the next sitting. After two attempts, with at least one not successful, they can take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course instead.
- Grade 3 and Grade 6 students take EQAO assessments in reading, writing and math online. The next window is 4 May to 8 June 2027.
A tutor can strengthen the reading and writing skills the OSSLT and EQAO assess, from comprehension and vocabulary to organising a clear written answer.
